Sudden excitement

Well, it\'s all got a bit exciting just so apologies for the lack of updates.  At the second briefing we issued an A and a B task, launching started on Task A at 12.50, and the start gate has just opened.  The sky here has suddenly become gorgeous with lots of cu, and we\'re off on another exciting day.  The task set is SUT - SU1 - WET - BRN - NRT - SU3 - FINLNN - SUT.

Morning Campers!

Morning all!  I have the met man here who tells me that high cloud cover is shutting off the full force of the sun this morning, meaning that it will be hard to say exactly when the cumulus will start to pop.  Below is this morning's optimistic cross section.  :)

Yet More Landouts...

As the tasksetters look for good hiding places, news_small has come in that 46 is down north of Flaxby, apparently unable to start his engine in time, W27 is north of Knaresborough, and RS is definitely down.  G-OM has abandoned at the second turn point.  There\'s still a lot in the air though.  At least we didn\'t set 370k like Hus Bos...

More Landouts

The latest, as it comes in...  DS2 is down at Dishforth much to the RAF\'s surprise, Reg Watson in KJH and the DG500 team HEF are both in fields near Knaresborough, and FVN is down north of Harrogate.  Rumours suggest that Robert Starling in RS may also have landed out.

They're off!

As I speak, they are now launching the grid here at Sutton Bank.  The task set is 269km, SUT - SU2 - FRI - KNA - MAW - HLM - FINLNE (our non-BGA east finish line).  Below is the cross section for the day.  There was a lot of wave about this morning, happily described as 'flying saucers' by the comp. team, which looks set to produce some interesting flying.  The sky looks stunning at the moment; launching started at noon with a cloudbase then of 300ft QFE and I expect the start gate to open short...

Bright and early

Morning has broken, bright and almost ironically beautiful this morning after yesterday\'s thick fog.  Competitors are rigging frantically up the field, and Andy and Kelly are arguing over the length of task to set even as we speak.  Look for the tasks to be announced after morning briefing at 10.  :)
